I got lucky on my purchase of the 2005 Genesis Gold B. Apparently the store I purchased it at put Genesis Silver B barcodes on the Gold B boxes, so I ended up getting charged 499 instead of 599. The grill is worth every penny so far. It's a miser when it comes to gas, and it heats up to 550 degrees in about 5-10 minutes! That's amazingly fast. New to the 2005 models are the doors, and it's apparent, because they're my only complaint about the design of the unit. They just don't open and close perfectly. Also be warned that Weber Grills in 2005 no longer ship with a propane tank. You must have one or buy one seperately. I wish the burners were further apart for indirect cooking of large pieces of meat. I had a large rack of ribs, and the edges got charred while I had the middle burner turned off. Next time I'll use foil. Chalk that mistake up to not knowing better.

Make sure you have someone around when you're putting this grill together. Step 3 requires you to put the top onto the legs, and this requires 2 people. Other than that, I was able to quickly put everything together and was grilling within an hour of starting the project. I really wish Weber would start using words in their instructions rather than just try to convey all the instructions with pictures. But like I said, I was able to easily get everything put together. I also bought the appropriate grill cover from Amazon and it fits like a glove. Great investment.

I owned a Weber Baby Q while living in an apartment, and loved it to death. It's now relegated to beach trip duty while my new Genesis Gold B is the workhorse of the house. Good job Weber!

Weber 1740001 Summit S-450 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Weber 1740001 Summit S-450 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After extensive research and despite less-than-exptected Consumer Reports ratings, I chose to purchase the 2007 Weber Summit S-450 grill.I own a 5-year-old Charbroil that is bowing out and losing heat/smoke when I cook so I wanted a multi-fuctional grill to replace it that would last longer. The Summit S-450 includes a beautiful smoker box with a dedicated burner and a Rotisserie Kit.More importantly, it is a Weber, which means great warranty and customer service and built to last.

When I opened the item with my friends we all salivated at the heavy-duty construction of this grill. The impressive stainless steel was high-grade and the grill was very heavy. No wobbling. It was very easy to set up and took about one hour.Let me say that although I expected this grill to be better than my old, I never thought it would be so impressive in all aspects.Weber thinks about everything when they make a grill. From the heavy gauge stainless steel grates to the high-end burners this grill really catches your eye.Having researched the grills at all the local hardware and big box stores, I can honestly say this grill beat them all with just looks and materials alone. That was even before I attached the propane and lit the thing!

When I did test the burners I was extremely impressed with the ignition system.I've never seen anything like it and all burners, including rotisserie and side lit on the first try.The grill got up to heat very quickly and the eveness of the heat was evident buy looks and using a hand test over the grates. While I only cooked a hamburger for my first meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful grill marks the grates left.

I do a lot of slow-cooking and smoking and the thermometer, smoker box, and seal of the grill will certainly improve my grilling of carolina pulled pork and briskett.Further, the knobs/temperature controls seem to offer infinite heating options.I cannot wait to experiment and learn with this grill as I add items to my menu.

While I just got this grill yesterday, I am more than hopeful of the quality and craftmanship and truly believe it will last triple the amount of my Charbroil.I'll have to add to this review as I continue to use this wonderful grill.

Addendum:

I have now had the grill for six plus weeks and have grilled everything from vegetables to pulled pork. The smoker and burners are unsurpassed by any gas grill I've used or come accross. It cooks evenly at all points with virtually no flare-ups or hot/cool spots. Not one complaint by this user after at least 35 uses.

15 months later:

What can I really add? This grill still works like day one with a little maintenance.Yes, the ignition system still works like the first test.My grill would fall into the heavy use category (5 days minimum in summer and 3-4 days in Ohio winter) and all parts are still solid and nowhere near need for replacement like my old grill would have been (sorry Charbroil).

Product Description:
A must-have for summer entertaining on the back deck, this propane grill not only looks great, it also provides a generous 580 square inches of total cooking space--a 468-square-inch primary cooking area and a 112-square-inch warming rack. The unit's four stainless-steel burners and 48,800 BTU-per-hour input make it easy to cook-up everything from steaks, pork chops, chicken, or fish to veggie burgers and shish-kabobs. Its 12,000 BTU-per-hour input flush-mounted side burner works great for simmering a sauce to slather on later. The grill also supplies 3/8-inch-wide stainless-steel rod cooking grates and stainless-steel Flavorizer bars to help ensure excellent results and reduced flare-ups, as well as a Snap-Jet individual burner-ignition system for ease of use.
In addition, the grill's durably constructed design includes a fully enclosed cart with stainless-steel-doors and chrome-plated, cast-aluminum handles and accent-colored painted side and rear panels, as well as a stainless-steel shroud with a polished handle and trim, a center-mounted thermometer, and accent-colored painted, cast-aluminum end caps. Its versatile design also provides an 8,000-BTU-per-hour smoker burner and stainless-steel smoker box, a 10,600-BTU-per-hour infrared rear-mounted rotisserie burner, and a spit-fork rotisserie attachment with a heavy-duty motor. Other highlights include two stainless-steel work areas, six tool holders, a Grill Out handle light, and four heavy-duty casters--two locking and two swivel--for smooth mobility. A 10-foot flexible hose comes included, but the propane tank must be purchased separately. Don't know what to grill first? Weber throws in a handy cookbook with great summer-grilling ideas. With the lid open, the propane grill measures 30 by 66 by 57 inches.

I've been searching for just the right grill for the small patio at my condo for several months. I was put off by the Weber's price, but finally decided to go for it when nothing else compared favorably.

So glad I did! It was easy to assemble (I'm a 52-year-old woman, and I put it together by myself) and is extremely well made. The grilling area is spacious, despite the overall size, and it gets very hot, very quickly.

It looks like, with proper care, it could last forever!

Weber 6750001 Genesis Gold C Propane Grill Review

Weber 6750001 Genesis Gold C Propane Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This grill really is fantastic.I've had it for 2 months now, with absolutely no buyers remorse at all.

Pros:
1.Excellent heat control with a 3-zone heating system.Turn off the middle zone, and you go from direct heating to convection style grilling.I'm finding the capability to switch from direct to convection-style heating to be useful for cooking things like fish, chicken, and ribs without scorching the outside.

2.Fantastic temperature control from 250 degrees F, all the way up to 600 degrees. The temperature gauge on the front is really useful.

3.The fuel indicator is a nice feature.

4.It's very simple to remove any parts that tend to get messy and put into the dishwasher.Cleanup is a snap. The parts fit in the dishwasher without taking up all the space.

Cons (really just a few minor annoying things):

1.The lower cabinet is not water proof.Anything left in it will get wet in the rain.

2.My lower cabinet doors tend to swing open too easily.I added a magnetic door latch to deal with the problem.

3.The sideburner does not put out that many BTU's.It's more of a warmer than a burner.I ussually have to light the sideburner with a match, as the lighting switch doesn't seem to consistently work for the sideburner.

4.This grill is really heavy.Don't expect to throw it in the back of your pickup and take to the park. It's a 2-man job to move it around.

Overall fantastic grill, with a few minor annoyances.I give it 5 stars, mostly for the excellent temperature control, and the fact that I've gone from a grill meister that scorched the outside of the meat 50% of the time (with my previous grill), to perfect consistent results everytime.

Weber 5710001 Summit Gold A4 Propane Gas Grill Review

Weber 5710001 Summit Gold A4 Propane Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a serious grill that is well designed and built to last. Its 200 pound weight gives it a solid feel and MOST of the components are heavy gauge stainless steel.A major exception to this are the cooking grates, which are a very lightweight stainless steel "hollow shell" type of design. They are very flimsy and aren't well suited for a grill of this caliber. To get the welded solid rod design, you'll need to step up to the Platinum Summit, which runs $200 more.I would have rated this grill 5 stars out of 5 if it had a better cooking grate. As far as cooking performance, the 4 burner control is awesome for direct and indirect cooking.Assembly of the grill was also surprisingly easy.Taking my time, it took about 90 minutes to unpack it, read the directions, and completely assemble it.Also, despite the Amazon.com review, it does not come with a propane tank so you'll need your own.Lastly, you cannot lite all 4 burners sequentially with the single touch of a button. You can lite one set of burners with each touch of the igniter button (this grill has two sets of burners).

Weber Spirit E-210 NG Gas Grill - Black Review

Weber Spirit E-210 NG Gas Grill - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you can make it past the whole more expensive Weber -vs- cheaper brand choice, you may be shopping for a Weber grill. The added cost of a Weber is more than made up in it's excellent service over a longer period.
This is the 2008 model Spirit E210 with a natural gas connection.I had the choice between this 2008 or a 2009 Spirit E-210.I mainly chose the 2008 because the removable plastic work surface and it being $100 less.I chose this over the Weber Spirit E310 and the Genesis E310.It makes a great addition to my good old Weber charcoal grill.
The natural gas connection if you have it (or can get one added to your house) is great.Typically the smaller grills don't take as much advantage of this as the larger grills. In my area it is hard to find natural gas versions stocked at the store.Either way I can't go back to LP tanks anymore.
The grates and flavor bars will be the cheapest ones Weber offers (enameled steel) but will work well for starting off. These can easily be upgraded with the SS grates and flavor bars next season :).
The work surface area is smaller but very accommodating for most users' needs. It only has two burners (versus three on the E-310) but I doubt most users would notice any disadvantage anyways.
Do yourself a favor and get the grill cover at the same time.
FYI, The 2009 model ditched the SS front doors which is marked up easily but sadly moved it to the work surface instead.Plus they lost the removable work surface which I think was a bonus. They also went with four smaller casters which are a pain if this grill will sit on grass or other soft surfaces. The 2009 electric ignition is nice but requires a battery to work.Since the old button one worked just fine I don't see the need for this change.

Weber Summit Gold D6 Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill Review

Weber Summit Gold D6 Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned my Weber Summit Gold A6 Natural Gas model since last November, and I could not be happier with it.A little about me first.I am a former chef, having trained in France and worked in some of the finest steak houses in Southern California for several years.Although I now work in a different job, my wife is a personal chef, and I often help her with jobs, usually cooking on the Weber.

We formerly owned a Weber Genesis, and while it performed alright, I never felt it got hot enough for my liking. Not so the Summit Gold.Mine has always lit easily, rises to the 700 degree range within minutes, and has sufficient sensitivity to be turned down to under 300 degrees for cooking lighter items such as shrimp. But let's face it, steaks are what are best on a grill, and I enjoy the fact that this grill heats to an appropriate temperature to quickly sear the outside while leaving the inside tender and juicy. We have also grilleda variety of styles of chicken, fish (salmon, trout, catfish, swordfish, etc.), and vegetables, all with great results. On Thanksgiving, we used the indirect method (i.e., side burners on, middle burners off) to cook two turkeys (the most popular being the one with garlic and chili powder rubbed outside and stuffed with chopped tamales inside), and both came out tender and juicy in under 4 hours.

Two things to be mindful of.First, if you buy a propane model, know that propane burns hotter than natural gas, so you may have some adjustments in cooking times, etc.And second, if you cook a lot on the grill like we do (2-4 times a week), you need to keep the grill clean. This means every few weeks, emptying the grease catch, scraping down the flavorizer bars, removing the ash build up in the bottom, and cleaning the grease from the sides and lid.Any barbeque will require this kind of cleaning for optimum performance, but the effort is definitely worth it.

This grill has well exceeded our expectations, and with its 25 year warranty, we expect to be using it for years to come.

Weber 5740001 Summit Gold D4 Gas Grill LP Review

Weber 5740001 Summit Gold D4 Gas Grill LP

(More customer reviews)
My wife recently surprised me by buying this grill for me.I'd been researching for several months a number of grills. At first, I wasn't leaning towards a Weber because my initial impressions were based on the Genesis line; while a good grill, I didn't like the orientation of burners - front to back.I prefer burners that are side-to-side.Then I called Weber and asked about it and they steered me towards the Summit line. After further research it seemed that this would be the grill for me but the price was a bit out of reach at $1399.So I was prepared to settle for a Costco grill that was all 304 stainless and appeared to have good features and function. But, I was settling and my wife would have none of that.So she called a local hardware store and negotiated a 20% discount and pulled the trigger. This grill ROCKS!When I brought it home I fired it up (it was a floor model and thus pre-assembled) to burn off any junk left over from manufacturing and in 10 minutes I had the thermometer buried at 700 degrees!Very impressed.Since then, I've found the ease of use of this grill to be just great. It has a removeable, integrated smoker box with its own burner that really puts out some smoke.Last night, I was changing out LP bottles, thinking that my current bottle was low, and I discovered that where the bottle is attached to the grill, there's a spring loaded "thingy" that is apparently calibrated to the weight of the LP bottle and thus provides you with a fairly accurate depiction of how much propane is left in the tank.Weber makes solid stuff.Looking back, the price is worth it for the product. This grill is KING!

This is one solid grill. The panels, grates, double walled cabinet doors, side shelves all are robust in materials and design. The assembly was minimal, I had it together in 15 minutes. At first I thought the handle lamps and lighted panel were gimmick, but actually are very functional. At 70K BTU, this grill packs a mean punch. It zoomed up to 700'F in less than 10min, so cleaning this afterwards is a breeze. My first use were two 2lb chickens on the rotisserie; the S-670 performed gallantly. If I were to pick a weak spot, it would be the caster wheels; they are a bit on the light-duty side especially when compared with the rest of the grill. I suggest registering warranty by phone, the customer service rep will share with you use and care instructions not as obvious in the manual.

The cooking grates are equipped with stainless steel, 9-1/2-millimeter rods for easy cleaning and optimal durability. Weber's stainless steel Flavorizer bars eliminate grease-fueled flare-ups that often occur with standard lava rocks and ceramic briquettes. Fats and juices are vaporized when they hit the angled bars and quickly sizzle away, adding delicious, smoky barbecue flavor rather than cauterizing flames. The primary cooking area measures 769 square inches. The handy warming rack area measures 145 square inches for a total cooking area of 624 square inches. The grill also has a 12,000-Btu input flush-mount side burner that lets you prepare sauces and side dishes right on the grill. And, a 10,600-Btu dedicated sear burner is great for glazing roast, ham, poultry, and more.
Other features include a center-mounted thermometer, 2 stainless steel work surfaces, Weber's Grill-Out handle light, 6 tool holders, an enclosed cart and a precision fuel gauge, a spit fork rotisserie attachment with heavy-duty motor. The grill is a great idea.Unfortunately, the design of the grill side is very poor. There is a burner across the back and three burners projecting from this back burner (essentialy an M shape). This means that the back of the burner is always much hotter than the front of the burner. Furthermore, with only three burners projecting from the rear there are "cool" spots between the burners. In fact, from a hot spot perspective, this is the worst grill I have owned.

A $1000 Kenmore grill did a much better job.

I contacted the local Napoleon dealer and paid to have one of their repairman come out to look at the grill. He suggested buying a Lynx if I wanted to eliminate hot spots - I am not kidding.

This is a very well built grill that stands up to the harshest environments while in storage and performs above expectations during grilling. This grill is perfect for vending and catering because of the multiple configurations, attachments, and accessories that are available for use with this unit. My grill is currently mounted to a trailer for towing to major events and vending. Grill is so sturdy and solid you hear nothing rattling when being pulled down the road. Weber 1840301 Summit S-450 Natural Gas Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill Review

Weber 1840301 Summit S-450 Natural Gas Tuck-Away Rotisserie Grill

(More customer reviews)
I have owned this grill for just over a year, and use it at least once a week, more in the summer, and I even use it the winter (I live in Avon, OH, so I have grilled in temps as low as the mid-teens).A few good points:It lights all the time every time on one or two clicks of the auto-ignitor.This is really great and saves a lot of hassle dealing with matches.Natural gas is wonderful, as no more propane tanks to deal with. The finish is top notch (but for this price I wish the back was also stainless steel). The smoker box is really a nice feature (I usually use hickory soaked in water and get a good 15 minutes of hickory smoke from a filled smoker box). The rotisserie works well when using the rear infrared burner (I have used it for large beef roasts and chickens). One of the best features are the thick stainless steel grates - no rust and they clean up perfectly every time and provide great consistent grill marks! The grease trap works flawlessly, and I feel very healthy when I empty out all the grease that collects in the trap! Also, since the unit is completely sealed, there is not greasy grill mess or particles that collect on the patio around the grill - it is very neat and tidy to cook on.

A few nits:The side burner runs too hot, in general. It is a poor quality burner and will burn and boil sauces too quickly, even on the lowest setting. It works, just not as good as one would expect at this price point. The main burners, in my opinion, could be a bit hotter, but only for the searing function when cooking steaks. It gets plenty hot, trust me, but it does not quite produce the level of searing on steaks as I would like, but it is very close. If searing is really important it might be best to get the model with the infrared searing burner. Also, the NG hose could be a few feet longer, at least for my application.

My cooking experience is very positive with this grill.I always had cheap grills and was always frustrated with the lack of temperature control. With this grill I get very precise temperature control all the time.I must say that in general I have never burned anything and things like chicken breast come out nice and juicy.Cooking results are very consistent, and I tend to cook very precisely based on time and temperature. For consistency I always let foods sit out for a few minutes so they are not too cold directly from the refrigerator - this is very important.I find I get best results by lighting all the burners and keep them all on low, as this sets a good baseline temperature, and then adjusting individual burners as needed. For example, a 1" thick steak is cooked to my liking by searing/cooking on high for 5 minutes on each side, then turning down to low and cooking for 3 more minutes on each side.I can pretty much predict the outcome by using trial and error to figure out what works for my desired cooking results.I also have cooked delicate pork tenderloin roasts with the indirect heat method (lower burners either side with cool burner in the middle) and they come out great).I have cooked about 16 burgers at once for large crowds, and the temperature control is a real party-saver in situations like this that require lots of monitoring.I have not had a bad result (again, start out slow with modest amounts of food to calibrate how this grill works in terms of temperature, heating, searing, etc.).I thought I would use the rotisserie and the side burner more, so in hindsight I could probably have saved some jingle by forgoing these features.Overall, this grill rocks and it blows away any grill I have ever owned (and I have had my share of them over the years).

I wanted a simple grill with just two burners and no side burners. This grill met my expectations.I have used it about 10 times and
am satisfied that it works well.

It came disassembled.I mean, it came disassembled.Every little piece had to be installed.I don't mind putting things together, so
it was ok.Some people might find it hard.

I would recommend this grill for this price. The construction is good
and it fit together well.

Product Description:
Whether gathering with a group of friends or the whole family, this liquid-propane gas grill provides plenty of room for outdoor cooking--635 square inches total with a 400-square-inch main grilling area for anything from hot dogs and hamburgers to steaks, veggie shish kabobs, and slabs of fresh pineapple. The grill's 44,000-BTU stainless-steel Super 8 infinity burner fills the cooking surface to eliminate cold spots and can heat the grill to a searing 600 degrees F in a matter of minutes. Even more, it comes with porcelain-coated cast-iron cooking grids, which effectively retain heat and clean easily, and a stainless-steel Flav-R-Wave system that instantly vaporizes drippings, infusing food with authentic barbecue flavor while helping to reduce flare-ups. The unit also provides a Sure-Lite electronic ignition system for easy start-ups, 180-degree Linear Flow valves for precisely adjusting the temperature, and a stainless-steel Accu-Temp thermometer with an internal probe to ensure accurate temperature readings. Other highlights include an extra-thick and deep rustproof Therma-Cast aluminum oven for superb convection cooking ability, smooth-rolling wheels, and Perma-Mold drop-down side shelves that offer generous work space and that come fitted with handy tool hooks and large bins for condiments. The gas grill measures approximately 59 by 21 by 49 inches and carries a lifetime warranty on the cast-aluminum oven, a five-year warranty on the stainless-steel burner system, and a two-year warranty on all remaining parts and paint.

Weber-Stephen 1361001 One-Touch Platinum Charcoal Grill Review

Weber-Stephen 1361001 One-Touch Platinum Charcoal Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this grill as a Christmas present and was more than pleasantly surprised.I've always been a fan of the Weber.I recyled my original 18.5" Weber after 20 years.Assembly took aboutan hour. The instructions have no words, just follow the pictures. The package comes with a small plastic thumb wrench to install the nuts for the handle and fasten the kettle to the frame. All you need to supply is a phillips #2 screwdriver and a rubber mallet.

1.) The price point places this grill between the Gold 22.5 Series and the Performer series.
2.) No more flimsy tripod legs that have a tendency to come out of the kettle base when you move the grill. There are two nuts that fasten the kettle to the side supports on the main frame.
3.) The frame is made of bent steel tubing. The lower half of the frame is connected to the upper half via two black metal clamping connectors secured with two screws each. When assembling the lower and upper halves of the frame, there is a slight offset in the connector assembly clearly shown by a hand lifting the partial assembly in the instructions. If you have to put effort into screwing the parts together...you are assembling it incorrectly.I can see where this will cause some people problems when they claim that their parts arrived to them incorrectly tapped or stripped. My advice:take parts A and B of the clamping metal connector and just start the screws so you can gage the amount of effort it takes to close the clamps. There are also two adjustable feet opposite the wheels that will allow you to level the frame to take out any wobble on uneven surfaces.
4.) Side Tables: Hard thermoset weather resistant, heat resistant plastic. There are two metal standoff clips that are to be installed with self tapping screws on each table. These clips will prevent a hot lid from touching the tables.Pay attention to the instructions and the orientation of the pictures.
5.)The lid has a built in thermometer 150 - 600 deg F.The handle for the lid is attached at the lip of the lid with two nuts.Lift up on the handle and the lid rolls back on two plastic rollers factory attached to the bottom kettle. The lid will eventually rotate back to rest on the two metal standoff clips mentioned above. You never have to completely remove the lid, it just rotates/rolls back and leaves plenty of room to access the entire grill.
6.) Wheels: Hard weather resistant, heat resistant plastic. You'll need the rubber mallet to install the retaining nuts for the wheels...just line them up and give it a good whack.
7.) The bottom rack is a nice feature, it stays solidly supported within the frame.
8.) Ash catching assembly. You have to snap the assembly collar to get the tabs to hook into the leg stubs in the kettle.Don't bend it too much, just deform it gently and work it in.
9.) The ash sweeping vane assembly was factory installed.
10.)Unit comes with two char-baskets, charcoal grill support, and hinged cooking grate.

I don't know why this product is not on Weber(-Stephen) website yet as of 1/2/10. This certainly is a noticeable upgrade from the Weber Gold series and it is definitely a winner in their product line.Solid construction.Solid company.I've always been a fan, but now I have another reason to love my Weber.

I am very happy with this grill.I've had other Webers and this is by far the best.It has a large cooking surface for feeding large family get-togethers.I can get it extremely hot for searing steaks just right. But it also does what all my other gas gills couldn't do- it lets you cook low and slow at about 200 degrees! When I first got the grill I seasoned a whole chicken and put it on all day, using just the small burner on the smoker box- virtually forgot about it for hours.Later that evening it was tender and juicy.

Only problem is that when it rains, water collects in the drip pans and overflows making a huge mess.Seems like Weber could throw in a $43 cover when you pay $2,000 for a grill- or at least warn you that it is REQUIRED- not optional equipment.
