This basket-style Rotisserie is wonderful - it handles most meats far easier than a spit. You can do whole chickens, split chickens, game hens, flat ribs, and very small roasts. You do not have to worry about balance and counter weights. You can fit the disassembled basket into the dishwasher.I love it.
Except....The basket is too small for a turkey or a large leg of lamb.A whole turkey would require a spit, and indeed, Weber sells one (the 9890).You would think Weber would package just the spit and clamps without the motor, so that a customer could own a system with two options - a basket and a spit. However, Weber does not package Rotisseries this way and will not sell the spit and attachments without the motor. (I asked, they refused.) You have to buy two motors if you want to use both a basket and a spit.
Weber would do well to take advantage of the great marketing opportunity afforded bypackaging a basket and a spit with one motor, instead of blocking customers from acquiring such a desirable combination.

Weber-Stephen 1424001 22.5" Performer Charcoal Grill Review

If you're thinking about taking the leap from gas back to charcoal but are concerned with the time and effort to fire it up, you should consider the Performer. With onboard charcoal storage (consider gloves for removing the charcoal from the storage bin) combined with the gas lighting feature, there is very little additional time from lifting the lid to searing your steaks. Throw in a few pre soaked hickory chips and it all comes back - that wonderful smokey aroma that only a charcoal grill can provide. With this design, even disposal of the ash is a breeze, the container at the bottom simply twists off, the ash can be dumped and you're back in business. I received this grill for my 60th birthday and have been very pleased.

I absolutely love this grill. After years of using charcoal, I bought a small gas grill but realized that I couldn't get the same flavor as I could with a charcoal grill.I wanted to go back to a Weber but didn't like the 3-legged ones. This just fits the bill.I love the side tables and the sturdiness of having 4 legs. My only disappointment is that I was hoping that the red would be fire-engine red.I would describe it more as redwood colored.

Agonized over whether or not an expensive grill was worth the money.I call it expensive since you can get the same size for nearly half the price at a retail chain.I'm not agonizing anymore.I have used it for three weeks now and the kitchen oven is getting jealous. We cook everything on this grill.Today, we finally used the rotisserie for a whole chicken and it was the best we've had. Fish, steaks, chicken and pork all grilled to perfection - and fast!

Broil King Sovereign 70 Liquid-Propane Gas Grill with Rotisserie Review

Broil King Sovereign 70 Liquid-Propane Gas Grill with Rotisserie
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you need heat, this thing is borderline too much. Put a pizza stone in and you can cook a proper pizza at 750 degrees. Thick steaks - you had better be ready to turn down the heat. Brown a quail in 2.5 minutes per side - you'll have perfect mahogany color.
For the past 8 years I have been grilling on a broil king and when I decided to replace it, I looked at everything. Barbeques Galore's Turbo models were the only ones that really had me thinking about switching away from Broil King. I didn't want a $4,000 grill. The all stainless Turbo model would run me almost $2,000.00 and I am not sure how much longer it was going to last in reality. So I went back to Broil King and spent $700 and I got another great grill.
Pros:
Hot - you can seriously mess up some meat if you are not careful.
Well built - it is not carved from billet, but it is plenty sturdy.
SS grates - I was always a cast iron grate fan, but I really like the stainless steel cooking surface and I think it will outlast the rest of the grill.
Value - For the quality and the power of this thing, I think it is a great deal.
Controls - The flame controls have a great feel of precision to them without any play.
Replacement parts - everything is replacable and the manufacturer is going to be around to sell you parts.

Con's:
Hot - you can seriously mess up some meat if you are not careful.
Flare-ups - This one seems to flare up more easily than my last one which had different flame shields.
Cast aluminum body - you can overheat this grill and the body of it can deform.
Gas burner for rotisserie - Honestly, I don't know if this is good or bad since I never use the rotisserie, but everyone else uses an infrared burner.

Overall, I like this Broil King even better than my last one and I have never grilled on anything better.

The grill's 48,000-BTU stainless-steel burner system consists of three Dual-Tube burners that produce even heat from front to back, eliminating cold spots. Even more, it comes with 3/8-inch-wide solid stainless-steel cooking grids for exceptional heat retention, plus a stainless-steel Flav-R-Wave system that instantly vaporizes drippings, infusing food with authentic barbecue flavor while helping to reduce flare-ups. For added versatility, the grill supplies an 18,000-BTU stainless-steel rear rotisserie burner and a premium rotisserie kit with a heavy-duty motor designed to handle large roasts, chickens, or turkey. The unit also provides a Sure-Lite electronic ignition system for easy start-ups; 180-degree Linear Flow valves for precisely adjusting the temperature; stainless-steel Flav-R-Zone heat partitions that focus the heat, allowing users to cook with just one burner or to cook different types of food on different areas of the grill; and a stainless-steel Accu-Temp thermometer with an internal probe to ensure accurate temperature readings. Weber Genesis E-310 LP Gas Grill - Black Review

Weber Genesis E-310 LP Gas Grill - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When it came time for me to buy a grill, I looked immediately to the Weber Genesis series, mainly because my family has always owned Webers and we've never been disappointed by them. My dad's prior Genesis grill lasted about 10 years before needing to be replaced, and likely would have lasted longer if it weren't for the harsh South Florida climate (the humid air down there is really rough on anything metal that's left outside).

I opted for the E-310 as I didn't need a side burner and didn't quite feel like paying up for the stainless steel model (which is nice, but hard to keep clean!).

This is a GREAT all around grill. IMO, there's nothing worse than a cheap gas grill - they don't maintain even heat, they don't get hot enough, and they often have the heat source too close to the food. I have a feeling a lot of the charcoal snobs out there (and I admit I used to be one myself) believe so ardently in charcoal's superiority partly because they've compared it only to a cheapo gas grill - guess what, it isn't the "rich smokey flavor" that makes charcoal grills great, it's the heat (they get hotter than most of the cheaper gas grills available) and the evenness of the heat. When buying a gas grill, you DO get what you pay for - and the Weber Genesis series is worth it. My Weber will heat to 600+ degrees, maintains even heat, and the heat source is far enough from the food to limit flare ups.

I've had this for about 2 weeks now and even I'm surprised how much I use it - almost every night (and THAT IMO is the main advantage of gas vs. charcoal, this thing is so convenient that I use it probably 5 times a week even though I live alone so I'm usually cooking for one). Thus far I've cooked steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts, and chicken wings on it (as well as sides like corn on the cob, asparagus, and new potatoes, all done on the grill of course), and it's ALL come out great. I'm very happy with it and I'm sure it'll only get better as the grill gets broken in and as I get more experienced using it.

If I've helped convince you to spring for the E-310, there's one thing you should consider (aside from whether to go stainless steel and whether to go with a side burner - those are both personal preferences) that you may not know about: there's a choice between cast iron and stainless still grill grates. I'm pretty sure the one offered on Amazon has the cast iron. Now, in most cases I think cast iron is great for cooking (it really holds the heat in better and gives a superior sear vs. other metals), HOWEVER cast iron does not hold up very well when left outside, especially if you live in a humid climate. Also, it's harder to clean. For this reason, if you live in a humid climate I'd recommend going for the version of the E-310 that has a stainless steel grill, you can find them if you look around. You can still get that cast iron sear when you want it by simply buying a Lodge cast iron skillet or griddle (available here on Amazon for < $20) and using it right on the Weber grill for certain dishes - I did this for a Filet Mignon the other night and it produced an excellent sear.

Overall, 5 stars for the Weber Genesis for a great cooking experience AND great Weber quality that should last you 10 years or more, if properly taken care of.

I bought this grill from Amazon and in short everything worked right out of the box.I bought the grill so that I could sear steaks, grill for a party and cook BBQ low and slow all in one grill.I have had nothing but success, great grill marks and I am able to maintain a 230-250 degree temperature for BBQ (with smoker box for great flavor). The six burners plus the smoker burner and wide cooking surface allow me to tailor the temperature perfectly. The setup instructions were clear and I was able to assemle it myself.I am very pleased with my purchase of the Summit Gold D6 and knowing Weber will be around for as long as I will own this grill as also very reassuring.

I purchased this grill for my wife as a birthday present. Grill was bought from Amazon, not one of their associates. I was most worried about shipping but was pleasantly surprised. Shipping in my area was from CEVA. I was contacted to set up a date for delivery. When the grill arrived it was mounted on a plastic pallet. The driver with a handcart rolled it into my garage. Unpacking took awhile due to all the packing. I would have given this 5 stars but one of the doors had a slight dent in the chrome trim. I contacted Weber and they sent a complete door overnight as a replacement.

I know that this grill is on the expensive side, but it is worth every penny.Considering that the cheap grills that you would find at most major retailers last only three to four years before they rust out. This grill weighs about 3000lbs (joking of course) and has a rotisserie and infrared burner, AMAZING!It is all stainless steel, including the burners, so they will NOT rust out. This is the last grill you will have to buy!I got mine in August of 2006 as a birthday present from my father, and I love every minute of it!It has wheels and is fairly easy to move around.I store mine in the garage when not in use, not because it can't handle the weather, more or less so nobody walks off with it.

Solaire 30-Inch InfraVection Natural Gas Cart Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Solaire 30 inch InfraVection Natural Gas Cart Grill, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This grill is simply amazing. It is made entirely out of stainless steel, and arrives fully assembled. It is quite heavy, and it is a two person job getting it off the wooden pallet it is shipped on. To hook it up to natural gas, the manufacturer recommends SOL-12HOSE12, however, as I found out, it does not come with all the fittings needed. The grill has a 1/2" FPT (Female Pipe Thread), and hose has a 1/2" flare connection. You will need a 1/2" MPT (Male Pipe Thread) to 1/2" Male Flare adapter. You'll find these at your hardware store in the same section where they keep fittings to hook up your gas appliances. Make sure you put pipe dope on the pipe thread, but not on the flare thread. The other end of the hose has a quick connect fitting, with a 1/2" FPT. In my case, the gas outlet on the outside of my house had a 1/2" FPT as well, so I had to get a 1/2" MPT to MPT fitting, which I found in the same area in my hardware store as the other fitting. Make sure you liberally apply pipe dope to the male fittings and leak check with 1 part dish liquid, 1 part water, brush it onto all the fittings, including the ones that were factory installed.

The grill heats up very quickly. The infrared is glowing red within minutes. To grill steaks, I put them on the infrared burner, 2 minutes on each side (turning them 90 degrees after 1 minute to give them a cross pattern), and then I move them to the convection side to finish cooking them. Make sure you leave the lid open, unless you turn down the burners.

I bought this grill to replace a 26,000 BTU Weber propane grill, and the difference is like night and day. With the amount of energy this grill puts out, I'm happy I went with the natural gas version. I have a feeling it would go through propane tanks like there is no tomorrow. Another nice feature is that it can be converted into a built-in grill should I ever decide to build a bbq island. The grill is the same as the non-cart version and it is just bolted to the cart. The cart itself is quite basic. It has a little raised shelf on the bottom inside, and it has a shelf on the inside of each door, but there are no hooks to hang things like brushes or tongs on.

Solaire Infrared Grills preheat in only 3 minutes, and cook about twice as fast conventional grills. You'll be eating before your neighbor's coals are ready. With the time saved, you can now make grilling an everyday occurrence rather than just a weekend event, perfect for today's busy lifestyle.Since infrared heats the food directly, not the air around it, you will be grilling year-round, even in frigid weather, with the same grilling performance as in summertime.
With excellent burner turn down, warming rack and a variety of accessories, a Solaire Grill is a very flexible heat management system that gives you the versatility to prepare virtually any type of food.Steaks, pork, fish, burgers, vegetables, chicken, fruit, shellfish - these and more benefit from the initial high heat sear delivered by the Solaire Infrared burner.Finishing the food after searing can be accomplished by turning down the burner to a lower setting, or moving it over a convection burner, if equipped. The V-shape grilling grids capture drippings and reduce flareups. The high heat of the infrared burner vaporizes drippings back into the food as smoke and flavor.Burner maintenance is easy. After you are done cooking, turn the burners on HIGH for five minutes to keep the 9,000 BTU burner ports in each burner clear of any food debris.Solaire burners can be removed without tools in seconds for thorough cleaning, service or to change from one type of burner to another (infrared to convection, and vice-versa).All Solaire grills are designed as built-in grills that can be placed onto carts. So, if you buy a cart model now, the same grill can be used in a built-in island later by merely removing a few bolts.Conversely, a built-in model can be turned into a cart model. This flexibility provides you with long-lasting value. This grill is relatively simple by design, without nonessential features that are prone to failure. The grill is covered by a limited lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship for the stainless steel construction, main burners and grilling grids. The electronic ignition system has a two year parts warranty; all other components are covered for one year. All Solaire Grills are made in the USA by Rasmussen Gas Logs & Grills, a fourth-generation, 102-year-old family business.

We have had the Weber EP 320 for about 3 weeks now and it is a dream. It is our fourth grill. The last two grills have been Weber's and they were our favorites. We were so thrilled with our last Weber (the Genesis Silver) and wanted to repeat the experience with a larger cooking surface.

Our old Weber never needed repairs but we are comforted by the fact that the Weber Grills are modular and you can inexpensively replace any needed part.

We have put our new grill through its paces these past few weeks cooking fish, pork, steak and vegetables.I used the side burner to heat the sauce. It holds the temperature beautifully, is easy to clean and easy to use.You won't regret buying this product.

This is the only way to cook.

My last grill was a Sunshine Legend with cast iron everything. If you spend the time seasoning the grates and plates, it cooks well. But it takes so damn much time it's not worth it to me.

So when I installed a gas line for the grill, I went with the best. This thing flat out smokes the competition. Hot, Hot, Hot, and even heat. fast warmup. I can smoke meats in it. Rotisserie roasts and fowl (or a pineapple--do try that).

Cleanup is a snap and this thing is sooo solid. I looked at Viking and Napoleon grills as well. This one is the best built, in my opinion. Easy to keep clean and ready to cook.

That's what you want, isn't it?

Charcoal grilling arguably produces better flavors, but propane has inarguable convenience. Some of the benefits of propane include push-button ignition, no lighter fluid, no coaxing the charcoal to burn evenly and no messy charcoal to clean up.If you've made the decision to go propane, the Weber Silver A is a good selection. It's a well-made and of sturdy construction. It requires some assembly, but no tools that aren't provided with grill. The manufacturer claims the grill can be assembled in less than 40 minutes and that's approximately how long it took me to assemble it.It is necessary to lift the heavy body of the grill and set it down upon the stand. The directions show two people performing this task.I was assembling the grill by myself and was able to do this by myself, but I would imagine it is wiser and safer to do it with two people. The Silver A is significantly smaller than many of the other grills on the market.I have limited space in my backyard, so the more compact design was an added plus. If considering the Silver A, you should probably look at the Silver B as well.Although a little more expensive, the Silver B offers 36,000 BTU's to the Silver A's more modest 26,000 BTU's.Although I'm happy with the performance of the Silver A, the Silver B is probably worth the investment if the grill is going to get heavy usage. There is a Silver C model as well, but this is a larger model that does not share the more compact design of its smaller siblings.I recommend the Silver A to anyone looking for a compact, but quality propane grill, but would urge the prospective purchaser to look at the more powerful yet compact Silver B model as well.

I have had this grill now for 9 months and have loved every moment of it.It is very sturdy - heavy stainless steel. The lid is very substantial.Plenty of grilling room.It has two burners so that you can use only 1/2 of the grill if you are only cooking for 4 and all the grill if you are cooking for 20!
Easy to clean the drip pan.I slide it out and just hose it off.I did not get the cart - we have it built into our screen porch.I also have not used the rotisserie yet so I cannot comment on it.The built in light is nice when it get dark in the winter.I would recommend this grill to everyone.

TEC Cherokee Portable Infrared Gas Grill LP Review

TEC Cherokee Portable Infrared Gas Grill LP

This would not be for the new TEC Cherokee aluminum pictured, my purchase was for the older 2002 model Cherokee CH-10SS stainless steel, I perfer this older model due to the fact that the fire actually touches the food, I believe the ratio is 60% infrared heat and 40% flame which is a great combination for flame seared foods, there is no glass on top of the ceramic burner. To me this tastes better, more like flame BBQ, it is ready to go in a couple of minutes, great heat control, it even came with the TEC matching stainless steel wheeled cart. These has been discontinued, so if you can even find one of these anymore, I would recommend buying it highly, I like this sooo much, I even purchased another one (brand spanking new) on Ebay for a spare, lucky me.
