I've been searching opinions on Amazon and other sites for some time and finally decided to spring for the Weber. My old grill was prone to flare-ups and uneven heating - so bad that I had to flip the chicken every 5 minutes, and sometime ended up finishing it in the oven so the skin was not totally blackened.Cleaning the enamel coated grates was also a big pain. They didn't rust, but were prone to sticking. The wood side shelves were in horrible condition, one wooden handle had fallen off, and the grill had a considerable amount of rust on the frame.

I pretty much settled on Weber due to the reputation for even heat, the Genesis B model for the size, and figured the few extra dollars for the stainless steel frame were worth it.The stainless steel grates were not negotiable, which meant that the Silver B was not a candidate.

The Genesis Platinum B is everything I had hoped for.I'd have preferred assembly instructions with a little more text, and one of the side frames was labeled incorrectly, causing me to have to re-do a step in the assembly. The grill looks great and cooks better. Kabobs come out tender with minimal flare-up, despite theoily marinade. It's pricy, but I'll use it more often because I don't have to constantly turn the food anymore.

I had to cancel my order when Amazon kept pushing my delivery date back. I still bought the genesis gold B from my local hardware store. It cooks great and has all the features I was looking for. It heats up and is ready to cook in a couple of minutes.

I upgraded to the gold because the grill, flavorizer bars ( those things the juice drips on and gives the flavor to the meat) and burners are stainless steel instead of porcelin coated steel.I really like having a second side table instead of side burner.

At first the thought of spending $750 on a grill seemed insane. Then I started adding up all of the $250-$350 grills I've had to buy in the 7-years I've owned my home. Based on reading hundreds of reviews, I figured that a stainless steel grill made by Weber would be the last grill I'd have to buy.I think I might be right.

I bought the natural gas version, which I would highly recommend. No more messing around with propane.Just turn on the valve and you've got flame.

I've had the grill outdoors for 4 months now (somtimes covered, sometimes not) and there are no signs of any corrosion anywhere. The stainless steel cleans easily and polishes up nicely.

The drip catch system is higher quality than I've seen, with a ceramic coated 'funnel' that drains juices down to the tin catch pan. Nothing collects near the flames so flare-ups are minimized. The 'flavorizer' bars immediately incinerate any grease that falls on them. The grill is easy to dismantle for cleaning.

The front-to-back burners provide perfectly even heat and a lot of it.The thermometer on the grill easily spins past the highest marking of 600 degrees. At these temperatures steaks sear nicely and the grill is almost 'self cleaning' since any stuck-on food is almost completely incinerated.Anything that remains on the grill easily scrapes off the stainless steel grates.

The front-to-back burners also allow you to use the grill like an oven.By shutting off the center burner, you can use indirect heat to cook food without searing it. The insulated hood keeps heat inside which makes the grill more efficient but also makes it easier to stand next to while cooking (not much heat radiates around the grille).

I'm convinced that this grill is an excellent investment.

This grill has it all, six burners, a side burner, a rotisserie with infrared burner and a smoker box with a dedicated burner. The grill grates are 3/8" stainless steel rods that provide great grill marks on your food. The grill heats up to 600 degrees in less than 10 minutes, but it does burn through propane rather quickly, but that wouldn't be any different with any 60,000 BTU grill.I was able to put the grill together by myself in a little over an hour. The fit of the pieces was fantastic and the end result was an attractive incredibly stable grill. It has two pull-up counters with stainless steel inserts, and a cabinet with stainless doors.

So far I have made countless steaks, dogs and chicken breasts that all came out the same due to the even temperature on the grill. My old Charbroil would give me two raw breasts, two good breasts, and two overcooked breasts... not with this grill.I have also slowed cooked some ribs with the smoker box going and the meat fell off the bone. But, the best meal yet was a rotisserie chicken that I prepared with a rub and injected with a marinade. The skin was crispy and the meat was tender and juicy. We'll be making many more of those chickens in the future.

Weber is a known commodity. They are built to last, and given the quality of the components (with care) I expect this grill to last at least 15 years. Many people end up having to get rid of their Weber's after 10, 12, 15 years because the cart has rusted out, but that's not an issue with this grill as the cart is constructed of 304 stainless steel.

All in all, a great grill that will last a long time.My only cons would be the propane consumption and maybe the size. It's probably a little too big for me and my family, but it was the only Weber that had all the features I wanted (mainly the rotisserie and the smoker box with burner). If they had a four burner model with those options I would have gotten that, but alas the Weber Summit Platinum D4 does not exist.

I researched this new grill for some time before finally deciding to get this Weber and it is great! Before this Weber, I researched the cheaper models out there and decided I was going for quality and aproduct that will last. My last stainless grill lasted about 3 years and it was the standard stainless steal grill you see everywhere...Junk! There are many grades of stainless steel and Weber uses a much better quality of materials. This grill is very easy to put together and it grills evenly every time. The stainless steel grills are easy to maintain and this is a very sturdy grill.I'm sure this will last at least 10 years and I will buy another Weber in 10 years. We have cooked steak, chicken, fish - everything cooks great. My only regret is not getting it sooner. Save yourself the frustration of some cheaper grill, this is well worth the extra money. Product Description:
For great flavor, gourmet searing, even cooking, multiple courses, easy cleaning, and good looks, nothing beats the Weber Genesis outdoor grill. An enclosed cart is great for storing cooking utensils and grilling supplies out of sight. Painted steel doors and shroud and stainless-steel handles look sharp, resist corrosion, and are easy to clean. An accent-colored, painted steel frame offers plenty of cooking stability. A center-mounted thermometer makes it easy to monitor progress. And, for optimal durability over the years, Weber designed the Genesis with cast aluminum end caps.
The cooking system, rated at 42,000 BTUs, includes three seamless stainless-steel burners and an electronic ignition system for easy starts. The cooking grates feature 7-milimeter-diameter stainless-steel rods that won't warp or distort under flame for years of outdoor cooking fun. Weber's stainless-steel, angled Flavorizer bars prevent fat- and grease-fueled flare-ups that over-sear foods. Rather than unwanted flames, juices drip on the bars where they sizzle and smoke, adding extra flavor to grilled chicken, steaks, and kabobs. And, if Bob wants burgers, Stacy wants steaks, and Vicky wants veggie burgers, there's plenty of room for all with 507 square inches of primary cooking area. Great for keeping the buns and side dishes warm while the entrees sizzle, the warming rack measures 130 square inches, for a total cooking area of 637 square inches. Top it off with a handy 12,000-BTU side burner for sauteing trimmings, and you might opt for this grill over the kitchen stove--year round!
More great features include six tool holders, an enclosed tank storage area, a precision fuel gauge, two stainless-steel work surfaces, two heavy-duty locking front casters, and two heavy-duty swivel back casters. Don't know what to grill first? Weber throws in a handy cookbook so you can get summer grilling underway. The grill measures 30 by 60 by 64-1/2 inches with the lid open.

I have to admit that I had a hard time choosing between the Summit Platinum B6 Propane Grill and the D6, the only difference being the rotisserie. In the end, I realized that I didn't eat a lot of chicken on the grill (give me steaks or tuna), so I didn't pay the extra $300 for something I was likely not going to use (therotisserie).I am extremely happy with this grill.First of all, friends, it's just absolutely gorgeous. The stainless steel is beautiful and very easy to clean.Secondly, this bad boy cranks up to full heat in less than 10 minutes.Thirdly, the heating is sufficient to sear tuna (1 minute per side with sashimi grade ahi tuna, and perfection) or steak without cooking it all the way through. Finally, the heat is even throughout, and the adjustable burners make for very easy indirect cooking.

I have to admit that I am still a charcoal man at heart (and I keep an old Weber charcoal pit on the side), but I may have made a late life conversion based upon the ease of use here. It's just too easy, and has had me cooking outside much much more.

As an aside, this grill arrived in New Orleans (home town) one month before the storm.Consequentally, this baby was my sole source of cooking for over a month.I think that makes it a survival tool, and I'm thinking about sending the receipt to FEMA. ;)

I got lucky on my purchase of the 2005 Genesis Gold B. Apparently the store I purchased it at put Genesis Silver B barcodes on the Gold B boxes, so I ended up getting charged 499 instead of 599. The grill is worth every penny so far. It's a miser when it comes to gas, and it heats up to 550 degrees in about 5-10 minutes! That's amazingly fast. New to the 2005 models are the doors, and it's apparent, because they're my only complaint about the design of the unit. They just don't open and close perfectly. Also be warned that Weber Grills in 2005 no longer ship with a propane tank. You must have one or buy one seperately. I wish the burners were further apart for indirect cooking of large pieces of meat. I had a large rack of ribs, and the edges got charred while I had the middle burner turned off. Next time I'll use foil. Chalk that mistake up to not knowing better.

Make sure you have someone around when you're putting this grill together. Step 3 requires you to put the top onto the legs, and this requires 2 people. Other than that, I was able to quickly put everything together and was grilling within an hour of starting the project. I really wish Weber would start using words in their instructions rather than just try to convey all the instructions with pictures. But like I said, I was able to easily get everything put together. I also bought the appropriate grill cover from Amazon and it fits like a glove. Great investment.

I owned a Weber Baby Q while living in an apartment, and loved it to death. It's now relegated to beach trip duty while my new Genesis Gold B is the workhorse of the house. Good job Weber!

Weber 1740001 Summit S-450 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel Review

Weber 1740001 Summit S-450 Propane Grill, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After extensive research and despite less-than-exptected Consumer Reports ratings, I chose to purchase the 2007 Weber Summit S-450 grill.I own a 5-year-old Charbroil that is bowing out and losing heat/smoke when I cook so I wanted a multi-fuctional grill to replace it that would last longer. The Summit S-450 includes a beautiful smoker box with a dedicated burner and a Rotisserie Kit.More importantly, it is a Weber, which means great warranty and customer service and built to last.

When I opened the item with my friends we all salivated at the heavy-duty construction of this grill. The impressive stainless steel was high-grade and the grill was very heavy. No wobbling. It was very easy to set up and took about one hour.Let me say that although I expected this grill to be better than my old, I never thought it would be so impressive in all aspects.Weber thinks about everything when they make a grill. From the heavy gauge stainless steel grates to the high-end burners this grill really catches your eye.Having researched the grills at all the local hardware and big box stores, I can honestly say this grill beat them all with just looks and materials alone. That was even before I attached the propane and lit the thing!

When I did test the burners I was extremely impressed with the ignition system.I've never seen anything like it and all burners, including rotisserie and side lit on the first try.The grill got up to heat very quickly and the eveness of the heat was evident buy looks and using a hand test over the grates. While I only cooked a hamburger for my first meal, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful grill marks the grates left.

I do a lot of slow-cooking and smoking and the thermometer, smoker box, and seal of the grill will certainly improve my grilling of carolina pulled pork and briskett.Further, the knobs/temperature controls seem to offer infinite heating options.I cannot wait to experiment and learn with this grill as I add items to my menu.

While I just got this grill yesterday, I am more than hopeful of the quality and craftmanship and truly believe it will last triple the amount of my Charbroil.I'll have to add to this review as I continue to use this wonderful grill.

Addendum:

I have now had the grill for six plus weeks and have grilled everything from vegetables to pulled pork. The smoker and burners are unsurpassed by any gas grill I've used or come accross. It cooks evenly at all points with virtually no flare-ups or hot/cool spots. Not one complaint by this user after at least 35 uses.

15 months later:

What can I really add? This grill still works like day one with a little maintenance.Yes, the ignition system still works like the first test.My grill would fall into the heavy use category (5 days minimum in summer and 3-4 days in Ohio winter) and all parts are still solid and nowhere near need for replacement like my old grill would have been (sorry Charbroil).

I've been searching for just the right grill for the small patio at my condo for several months. I was put off by the Weber's price, but finally decided to go for it when nothing else compared favorably.

So glad I did! It was easy to assemble (I'm a 52-year-old woman, and I put it together by myself) and is extremely well made. The grilling area is spacious, despite the overall size, and it gets very hot, very quickly.

It looks like, with proper care, it could last forever!

1.Excellent heat control with a 3-zone heating system.Turn off the middle zone, and you go from direct heating to convection style grilling.I'm finding the capability to switch from direct to convection-style heating to be useful for cooking things like fish, chicken, and ribs without scorching the outside.

2.Fantastic temperature control from 250 degrees F, all the way up to 600 degrees. The temperature gauge on the front is really useful.

3.The fuel indicator is a nice feature.

4.It's very simple to remove any parts that tend to get messy and put into the dishwasher.Cleanup is a snap. The parts fit in the dishwasher without taking up all the space.

Cons (really just a few minor annoying things):

1.The lower cabinet is not water proof.Anything left in it will get wet in the rain.

2.My lower cabinet doors tend to swing open too easily.I added a magnetic door latch to deal with the problem.

3.The sideburner does not put out that many BTU's.It's more of a warmer than a burner.I ussually have to light the sideburner with a match, as the lighting switch doesn't seem to consistently work for the sideburner.

4.This grill is really heavy.Don't expect to throw it in the back of your pickup and take to the park. It's a 2-man job to move it around.

Overall fantastic grill, with a few minor annoyances.I give it 5 stars, mostly for the excellent temperature control, and the fact that I've gone from a grill meister that scorched the outside of the meat 50% of the time (with my previous grill), to perfect consistent results everytime.

Product Description:
When we launched the Genesis gas grill line back in 1985, we launched more than a new line of grills- we launched a grilling revolution. The Genesis line changed the way gas grills work with a new and innovative cooking system that stopped flare-ups and created even heat without messy lava rocks. Our system was so good, it wasn't long before other brands tried to replicate it.Close, but no cigar.Weber's cooking system is still the best on the market, and here's why:Burneres made of high-grade stainless steel run the length of the cookbox, providing even heat accross the grill.Flavorizer bars completely cover the burners, no holes or cutouts. They are precisely angled to generate heat and facilitate run off of juices that aren't vaporized. --A drip system for directing grease away from the burners.Drippings are channeled into a funnel shaped bottom tray under the burners and collect in a large drip pan. Both the funnel-shaped tray and the drip pan are easy to remove from the front of the grill.--At least two or more individually controlled burners for cooking direct or indirect.Burners have infinite control valves so you can fine tune the temperature.Genesis Gold gas grills include two model types--B and C. Gold B models have three burners, and Gold C models have three burners and a12,000 BTU-per-hour input side burner. Both models feature a fully enclosed cart with stainless steel doors and handles, stainless steel cooking grates, stainless steel flavorizer bars, granite-style thermoset work surfaces, Crossover ignition system, solid robot-welded carts, built in thermometer, and a double-walled construction stainless steel hood that adds a layer of insulation to trap heat and protect the stainless steel hood from discoloring. All natural gas models include a 12 ft. flexible hose. All models also feature a limited lifetime warranty.

Weber 5710001 Summit Gold A4 Propane Gas Grill Review

Weber 5710001 Summit Gold A4 Propane Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

This is a serious grill that is well designed and built to last. Its 200 pound weight gives it a solid feel and MOST of the components are heavy gauge stainless steel.A major exception to this are the cooking grates, which are a very lightweight stainless steel "hollow shell" type of design. They are very flimsy and aren't well suited for a grill of this caliber. To get the welded solid rod design, you'll need to step up to the Platinum Summit, which runs $200 more.I would have rated this grill 5 stars out of 5 if it had a better cooking grate. As far as cooking performance, the 4 burner control is awesome for direct and indirect cooking.Assembly of the grill was also surprisingly easy.Taking my time, it took about 90 minutes to unpack it, read the directions, and completely assemble it.Also, despite the Amazon.com review, it does not come with a propane tank so you'll need your own.Lastly, you cannot lite all 4 burners sequentially with the single touch of a button. You can lite one set of burners with each touch of the igniter button (this grill has two sets of burners).

Weber Spirit E-210 NG Gas Grill - Black Review

Weber Spirit E-210 NG Gas Grill - Black
Average Reviews:

If you can make it past the whole more expensive Weber -vs- cheaper brand choice, you may be shopping for a Weber grill. The added cost of a Weber is more than made up in it's excellent service over a longer period.
This is the 2008 model Spirit E210 with a natural gas connection.I had the choice between this 2008 or a 2009 Spirit E-210.I mainly chose the 2008 because the removable plastic work surface and it being $100 less.I chose this over the Weber Spirit E310 and the Genesis E310.It makes a great addition to my good old Weber charcoal grill.
The natural gas connection if you have it (or can get one added to your house) is great.Typically the smaller grills don't take as much advantage of this as the larger grills. In my area it is hard to find natural gas versions stocked at the store.Either way I can't go back to LP tanks anymore.
The grates and flavor bars will be the cheapest ones Weber offers (enameled steel) but will work well for starting off. These can easily be upgraded with the SS grates and flavor bars next season :).
The work surface area is smaller but very accommodating for most users' needs. It only has two burners (versus three on the E-310) but I doubt most users would notice any disadvantage anyways.
Do yourself a favor and get the grill cover at the same time.
FYI, The 2009 model ditched the SS front doors which is marked up easily but sadly moved it to the work surface instead.Plus they lost the removable work surface which I think was a bonus. They also went with four smaller casters which are a pain if this grill will sit on grass or other soft surfaces. The 2009 electric ignition is nice but requires a battery to work.Since the old button one worked just fine I don't see the need for this change.

Weber Summit Gold D6 Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill Review

Weber Summit Gold D6 Stainless Steel Natural Gas Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned my Weber Summit Gold A6 Natural Gas model since last November, and I could not be happier with it.A little about me first.I am a former chef, having trained in France and worked in some of the finest steak houses in Southern California for several years.Although I now work in a different job, my wife is a personal chef, and I often help her with jobs, usually cooking on the Weber.

We formerly owned a Weber Genesis, and while it performed alright, I never felt it got hot enough for my liking. Not so the Summit Gold.Mine has always lit easily, rises to the 700 degree range within minutes, and has sufficient sensitivity to be turned down to under 300 degrees for cooking lighter items such as shrimp. But let's face it, steaks are what are best on a grill, and I enjoy the fact that this grill heats to an appropriate temperature to quickly sear the outside while leaving the inside tender and juicy. We have also grilleda variety of styles of chicken, fish (salmon, trout, catfish, swordfish, etc.), and vegetables, all with great results. On Thanksgiving, we used the indirect method (i.e., side burners on, middle burners off) to cook two turkeys (the most popular being the one with garlic and chili powder rubbed outside and stuffed with chopped tamales inside), and both came out tender and juicy in under 4 hours.

Two things to be mindful of.First, if you buy a propane model, know that propane burns hotter than natural gas, so you may have some adjustments in cooking times, etc.And second, if you cook a lot on the grill like we do (2-4 times a week), you need to keep the grill clean. This means every few weeks, emptying the grease catch, scraping down the flavorizer bars, removing the ash build up in the bottom, and cleaning the grease from the sides and lid.Any barbeque will require this kind of cleaning for optimum performance, but the effort is definitely worth it.

This grill has well exceeded our expectations, and with its 25 year warranty, we expect to be using it for years to come.

Weber 5740001 Summit Gold D4 Gas Grill LP Review

Weber 5740001 Summit Gold D4 Gas Grill LP

(More customer reviews)
My wife recently surprised me by buying this grill for me.I'd been researching for several months a number of grills. At first, I wasn't leaning towards a Weber because my initial impressions were based on the Genesis line; while a good grill, I didn't like the orientation of burners - front to back.I prefer burners that are side-to-side.Then I called Weber and asked about it and they steered me towards the Summit line. After further research it seemed that this would be the grill for me but the price was a bit out of reach at $1399.So I was prepared to settle for a Costco grill that was all 304 stainless and appeared to have good features and function. But, I was settling and my wife would have none of that.So she called a local hardware store and negotiated a 20% discount and pulled the trigger. This grill ROCKS!When I brought it home I fired it up (it was a floor model and thus pre-assembled) to burn off any junk left over from manufacturing and in 10 minutes I had the thermometer buried at 700 degrees!Very impressed.Since then, I've found the ease of use of this grill to be just great. It has a removeable, integrated smoker box with its own burner that really puts out some smoke.Last night, I was changing out LP bottles, thinking that my current bottle was low, and I discovered that where the bottle is attached to the grill, there's a spring loaded "thingy" that is apparently calibrated to the weight of the LP bottle and thus provides you with a fairly accurate depiction of how much propane is left in the tank.Weber makes solid stuff.Looking back, the price is worth it for the product. This grill is KING!

Weber 2780001 Summit S-670 Grill, Propane, Stainless Steel Review

Weber 2780001 Summit S-670 Grill, Propane, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

This is one solid grill. The panels, grates, double walled cabinet doors, side shelves all are robust in materials and design. The assembly was minimal, I had it together in 15 minutes. At first I thought the handle lamps and lighted panel were gimmick, but actually are very functional. At 70K BTU, this grill packs a mean punch. It zoomed up to 700'F in less than 10min, so cleaning this afterwards is a breeze. My first use were two 2lb chickens on the rotisserie; the S-670 performed gallantly. If I were to pick a weak spot, it would be the caster wheels; they are a bit on the light-duty side especially when compared with the rest of the grill. I suggest registering warranty by phone, the customer service rep will share with you use and care instructions not as obvious in the manual.

Fats and juices are vaporized when they hit the angled bars and quickly sizzle away, adding delicious, smoky barbecue flavor rather than cauterizing flames. The primary cooking area measures 769 square inches. The handy warming rack area measures 145 square inches for a total cooking area of 624 square inches. The grill also has a 12,000-Btu input flush-mount side burner that lets you prepare sauces and side dishes right on the grill. And, a 10,600-Btu dedicated sear burner is great for glazing roast, ham, poultry, and more.
